The flame was in honor of the theft from the gods of fire by the greek god Prometheus, who is really Venus or Lucifer who brings enlightenment to man. Prometheus snuck up to Mount Olympus, lit a torch from the sun, and hid a burning piece of charcoal in a hollow stock. Zeus punished Prometheus by chaining him to a rock or pillar. There is a statue of Prometheus giving fire to man in the Rockefeller Center. The Statue of Liberty is also a representation because Lucifer the light bearer and Prometheus offer mankind freedom. In 2012 the movie Prometheus Rising was released whose name reminds us of Lucifer Rising. Every year a female acting as high priestess lights the olympic torch by the light of the sun as its rays are concentrated by a parabolic mirror. The flame is then sent on a torch relay for several months until it is brought to a cauldron at the top of a staircase. This year the flame was lit at a rehearsal by eleven vestal virgins to invokde the sun God Apollo at the Doric Temple of Hera.
The 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony in London, England featured more sun and moon symbolism as well as apocalyptic 2012 Mayan cosmology. The ceremony contained zionist allusions to rebuilding Jerusalem and veiled references to Orwell's 1984 brave new new world order. Also featured prominently in the spell was the world's largest bell, scary villains, a crescent moon, and a ferris wheel lit up that looked like a tunnel. A giant sun was lit from over 200 copper petals lit by seven torches in the Olympic Cauldron. Fireworks erupted all throughout and even outside the stadium to the sounds of Pink Floyd's ending song Eclipse from their epic album Dark Side of The Moon. Sir Paul McCartney closed the ceremony with the last verse of the Beatles' song The End and the anthemic song Hey Jude. I have detailed an in-depth analysis of the occult symbolism of the entire ceremony on my 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony in London page.
The Opening Ceremony from the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada contained a scene where a fiddler riding in a bewitched blue canoe dueled with his shadow whose silhouette independently played against the backdrop of the moon. As the television commentator explained, "This next section is called 'Rhythms of the Fall'. This blue and white canoe with a fiddler onboard is a reference to a French-Canadian legend about a 'witched' canoe." The stadium announcer introduced the segment with a poem by Emily Pauline Johnson, containing the following narrative, "Know by the music woven through this fragile web of cadences I spin that I have only caught these songs since you voiced them upon your haunting violin." The television commentator added, "Here you have the image of a fiddler dueling with his own shadow in the moon." Wikipedia reports the legend La Chasse-galerie or "The Bewitched Canoe" or "The Flying Canoe" is a "popular French-Canadian tale of voyageurs who make a deal with the devil, a variant of the Wild Hunt".
What is the wild hunt, you ask? The 1999 Canadian movie The Wild Hunt asked that very question. The movie was promoted with the tagline "The game is over" and its trailer posed the question, "What happens when is the game is no longer a game?" A group of fantasy role-playing gamers reenact a medieval ritual. A non-role playing person crashed the drama and asked, "What's the wild hunt?" to which he was infomed, "It's a night of frenzy where the Horned God materializes in the form of a man-beast and leads a group of huntsmen in a mad pursuit across the countryside hunting, reveling, killing everything in their path. Only a few centuries ago man used to fear the woods and its creatures. We the people of the earth must relearn to revere the forest, to be one with the land, to free the beast within -- and for that we must sacrifice! Tonight Murtagh will summon the beast with the blood of a pure maiden." Other variants of the Wild Hunt include Odin, King Arthur, Gwydion, Herne the Hunter, Old Nick, the Valkyrie, Ghost Riders in the Sky, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and, of course, the Devil who all seem to be associated with the horned moon goddess Artemis/Diana who was known as "goddess of the hunt".
Here are some more images from the 2008 Olympics: an illuminated golden sphere, an orange human pillar, an eye with stars surrounding it.
Prometheus symbolizes Venus or Lucifer, the light bearer. It might be odd to think of Lucifer as female, but any dictionary or encyclopedia will tell you the Romans consider Lucifer as Venus Consider this: Leslie Huggins stared as Lucifer in Kenneth Anger's movie, Lucifer Rising. Also could the Beatles' song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds not only be related to LSD, but also a veiled reference to Lucifer as Venus or the sun: Lucy (Lucy-fer) in the sky with diamonds (stars) ala the line "look for the girl with the sun in her eyes and she's gone"? Lucifer, the light bearer, could then also represent Columbia and the Statue of Liberty which was modelled after the Colossus of Rhodes which was a statue of the Greek Titan sun god, The dedication text is preserved in librares and is believed to have read: "To you, O Sun, the people of Dorian Rhodes set up this bronze staute reaching to Olympus...". Helios. Ezra Lazarus' famous poem The New Colossus in engraven on the pedestal on which the statue stands and concludes with "I life my lamp beside the golden door". This may be a stretch, but notice in the Columbia Pictures logo below how the flame goes between the two towers or pillars of the letter 'U'. The nonexistent bottom of the letter 'U' where her arm bisects the base actually makes it look like a 'V'.
